Chemical Peel

Chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those patients with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Trichloroacetic or Alphahydroxy acids are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient’s needs.

Chemical peel is mostly performed for cosmetic purposes. The peel enhances your appearance and your self confidence. It may also remove pre-cancerous skin growths, soften acne facial scars, and even control acne.

All chemical peels carry some uncertainty and risk. Since the initial result is similar to severe sunburn, there may irritation and crusting. These problems usually subside. With the peel, your healed skin will be able to produce pigment as always; the peel will not bleach the skin.

How is the procedure performed?

A chemical peel is performed in the office setting. The peel is applied to the face and allowed to dry. A numbing ointment is applied over the area to decrease pain. The patient is followed as an outpatient for determination of results. This procedure is a cost effective treatment for damaged skin.
